Righto! who the devil am I?
Well, I’m just an ordinary bloke in an extraordinary world, a romantic with a head full of ideas and a lifetime of experiences. I bear the emotional scars of failures past and the laughter lines of many successes, but most of all I have been shaped by a life worth living and opportunities taken, never left wondering…no regrets.
The Yorkshire Beard was born from a simple belief: good timber deserves a second chance. Working from reclaimed and recycled Aussie hardwoods and forgotten softwoods, I create handcrafted pieces that carry the marks, history, and character of the landscapes they came from. Every board, beam, and offcut has lived a story long before it reaches my workshop—fence posts weathered by the outback, floorboards shaped by decades of footsteps, bridge timbers seasoned by sun and rain.
Rescuing timber, restoring and repurposing it with care, and crafting it into something wonderful that makes someone happy is my mission. My work blends traditional hands‑on craftsmanship with modern precision, offering a full inhouse custom laser‑design service that turns what was once the jetsam and flotsam of a disposable society into beautiful practical art laced with personal stories. From engraved chopping boards and butchers’ blocks, quirky charcutier boards through to gifts and oddities of functional art for the home, each piece is made with intention, sustainability, and a deep respect for the material.
So here I am trying to make cool stuff that people will like and treasure, at The Yorkshire Beard I use my creations to connect and hopefully bring a little happiness into their lives by being curious and kind.
Have an awesome day, Wayne - The Yorkshire Beard.
